Position Outreach
SICIM is looking to employ a dynamic leader in the conservation community to assist SICIM as an Executive Director. The specific duties of the position, along with hours and pay rate, will be developed around the person selected for the position. We will consider part-time employment for this position. In general, the Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration and strategic plan of SICIM. Other key duties include fundraising, grant writing and marketing. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Background: SICIM (Southern Indiana Cooperative Invasives Management) is a 501-c3 non-profit organization established in 2008. The organization is overseen by a Board of Directors. The organization’s mission is to protect Indiana lands and waters by coordinating efforts to identify, prevent, and control problematic invasive species. In 2017, SICIM undertook a state-wide role, in partnership with NRCS, to develop CISMAs (Cooperative Invasive Species Management Areas) to represent all counties in Indiana. Under this new state-wide role, SICIM currently employs 6 people across Indiana.
Below, is a general overview of experience and skills SICIM would like to see in applicants for the Executive Director position:
Experienced leader with excellent communication and organization skills.
Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
Awareness and interest in natural resources conservation issues, especially invasive species
Ability to work independently and set priorities within broad goals and objectives.
Experience and skill in working with a Board of Director and coordinating Board and committee meetings.
Solid management abilities including administration planning, program development and task facilitation.
A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results through grants and fundraising events
Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organization of influence including donors, partner agencies and volunteers.
Basic accounting knowledge and experience in grant budget preparation, oversight and report writing.
Personal computer skills including experience with MS Office applications, website use and other social media platforms.
Marketing
Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
Dependable vehicle and valid driver’s license for travel to meetings and organizational events.
